(ZENIT News / Melbourne, 12.01.2023).- The Shine Lawyers firm stated that, Cardinal Pell’s death notwithstanding, they will continue to take forward the judgment they have against him and the Catholic Church in Melbourne. Lisa Flynn, the firm’s Legal Director, said:

Shine Lawyers is processing a civil lawsuit on behalf of the father of a former altar server who alleged he was a victim of sexual abuses by George Pell. The Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne is also listed as a defendant in this matter. The lawsuit against the Church will continue as well as against the legacy that Pell has left. A civil trial would probably have given the opportunity to question Pell and really prove his defense against these accusations. There is still plenty of evidence on which to base this claim and at the appropriate moment the Court will be ask to pronounce itself on it.

As we informed in July of 2022, the Australian Courts received a new lawsuit against the acquitted Cardenal. This time it’s the father of a boy who died from a drug overdose and who says his son was abused. Neither his son is alive to prove it or the Cardinal to defend himself of the accusation, which was geared  and is geared to get money.

Accused by a man who said he had been abused, Cardinal George Pell spent just over a year in prison. Then Australia’s Supreme Court acquitted him. This now is a different case and, as the lawyers’ firm asserts, they are interested in “the legacy Pell has left.”
